Dollface: Learning from Your Girlfriends and a Cat Lady?

Writer: The Confessioner The Confessioner

When I watched Dollface earlier this year, I was not expecting much from it and just wanted something to watch while eating dinner. Come later that night after binging the entire season, I realized that this was a lot better than I expected. Not only for the stellar main cast of women including Kat Dennings, Shay Mitchell, and Brenda Song but also for the quirky way the story line was told to not only have comedy but real life things that most women goes through in discovering how the live their life. For those of you do not know now, Dollface is a Hulu Original that starts after Jules (Dennings) is dumped by her boyfriend and realizes that she had gave up relations with her friends Stella and Madison (Mitchell and Song) with just focusing all her time on him. As the story goes on, she learns more about what it takes to be a girl and having friends while having many.... weird visions and daydreams along the way. Not only do we see the character of Jules grow along the way, but also the lives of those all around her as they deal with the hardships and complications that are in their individual lives as well as their relationships with their friends. Whoa! A lot of depressing stuff in the last sentence. Let me not forget that this was a comedy too. I do not if I laughed more at how real some of the situations that happened in the show, or the dynamics that each of the actresses had with everyone. Not matter if they were in a group or just two or by themselves, I always found myself laughing. Maybe because I know people like them or know people who have had things very similar happen to them, I do not but the whole event was enjoyable.

And let's not forget all of the great guest stars that they had. If something has Matthew Gray Gubler, Joey Lawrence, Macaulay Culkin, Margot Robbie, and many others as just minor roles, you know that the show has to be something great. Like can you imagine having all those stars in one room? Like guess it happens in reward shows, and festivals, and tours, and big franchises in general....but can you imagine? The only fault that I have had with this show is that I have heard nothing about when season two will happen. But if I have waited seven years for a season two of one of my favourite anime to happen, I can also wait for this one. Now I just having many excuses to re watch it. Got to keep the memory sharp. Anyone who wants to have a good laugh, serious moments, and just overall women empowerment, I suggest you watch this show like yesterday.
