While I did not see this movie until many years after it was released, this was always one of my favourite DCOMS(Disney Channel Original Movies). And it wasn't just me in my family that loved this movie. Every time that it would come on Disney Channel, all of my siblings and mom would watch it no matter the time of day or what we were doing. It was always like a mini party for us. We saw this before we knew H2O was a thing. So besides The Little Mermaid, this was one of our first movies about mermaids. It made it even more fun for us since it was also not an animated movie up also about a kid! It had been a couple years since I last saw this movie. That was until I got Disney+. I was awestruck by all that was one there. It had movies that I forgot existed, one of them being The Thirteenth Year. When I saw the movie poster a wave of emotions just came over me. I started to remember scenes and plot lines from the movie that I did not see in years. I rewatched it at that very moment and started to remember why this one of my favourites when I was younger. Like, who wouldn't like a movie about a boy mermaid(as six year old me would say)! For those who have never heard of this movie, and I don't know how if you haven't, it's about a popular boy named Cody who has recently turned 13 and started to notice unusual changes about him. He enlisted the help of unpopular boy named Jess to help him figure out what is going on with him and what he actually is. It has everything from self discovery, romance, and a little danger that you would expect in earlier DCOMS! Stayed tuned for next weeks Nostalgia Wednesday!
